Read them today and you are reading the case for the war against Iran, printed twenty-four years early. The same threat inflation. The same crude-device-at-Hiroshima analogy. The same 'surgical operation' against 'the core of the regime'. The same promise that Arab leaders secretly approve. The same democratic domino theory. The same two-state epilogue. The same confidence that this time the weapons will be found, the regime will fall in weeks, and the region will say thank you. The script never changed. Only the country in the title did. This essay does not argue the Iran war is wrong. It argues something more uncomfortable: the people selling it are using text they should have disowned in 2006, and the fact that nobody had to rewrite it is the scandal.

Ten thousand men answered one question: what is the male equivalent of receiving flowers? The number one answer beat sex, money, and every purchasable thing. It was four words: having my existence acknowledged. What follows is a field report from the male side of the species, counted down through twenty-seven things men actually call their flowers, from a cold drink and a good-morning text to a hug he did not have to initiate, an apology without a but, and at the very top, simply being noticed at all. Almost none of them cost a dollar. The most common feeling underneath the answers was not bitterness but surprise that the question was being asked. The culture gave women flowers, a scripted, recognized way to feel valued, and it gave men nothing. No word for it. No card in the aisle. So the male version went underground. This is the manual that should have come with the species.

The Force Was Female: How Wokeness Made Itself the Author and Killed the Story

Wokeness is not the cause of bad modern storytelling. It is a style of bad modern storytelling, and the style has a mechanism. A doctrine captures the profession, installs a compliance department that scores scripts against ideology rather than craft, and produces work optimized for the doctrine and degraded for the audience. The signature is the empty room: a void where the character should have been, surrounded by men flattened into props so the void can be called a heroine. The pattern repeats across every franchise the doctrine has touched, and it is the same pattern visible in every captured institution. The exit is not to petition the institution. The exit is to build the parallel thing, make it well, and make it for the audience the institution forgot.
